Job description
The Engineering Program Manager (EPM) role focuses on driving human factors research efforts within the Applied Research and Characterization team at Apple. This team combines expertise in various engineering fields to deliver insights that influence product design across Apple's hardware portfolio. The EPM will collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and engineers, managing project schedules and ensuring effective communication with stakeholders. This position requires a strong emphasis on project management, analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Requirements
- BS in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent in a relevant engineering field is required.
- 4+ years of project management experience is required.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal skills are necessary.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential.
- Experience in setting up project schedules and work plans is required.
- Experience collaborating with multi-functional teams to drive closure of technical issues is necessary.
- Strong technical background in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering is required.
- MS in engineering is a plus.
- Experience and familiarity with the consumer electronics industry is preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of product development cycles is necessary.
- Ability to filter and distill relevant information for the right audience is required.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and leadership skills are essential.
- Highly disciplined in workflow, process, and staying organized on priority tasks is necessary.
- Superior attention to detail with a strong commitment to rigor and excellence is required.
- Self-motivated and proactive with creative and critical thinking capabilities is essential.
- Ability to understand and deal well with rapid development cycles and constant change is necessary.
Responsibilities
- Lead human factors research efforts and manage development schedules.
- Identify and prioritize project tasks and risks.
- Drive multi-functional teams and integrate their deliverables and schedules into the project.
- Regularly communicate project status to the project team and Apple leadership.
- Synchronize project milestones throughout the Apple development process.
