Job description

Amazon Web Services is seeking a Principal Software Development Engineer for the EC2 Edge Frontier team, which focuses on delivering AWS infrastructure to various environments. This strategic role involves setting the technical direction for edge compute platforms and managing their lifecycle across a fleet of Nitro-based devices. The position requires solving unique challenges in edge computing, where hardware access is limited and environments are diverse. The ideal candidate will thrive in ambiguity and contribute to shaping the future of cloud computing beyond traditional data centers.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • 5+ years of engineering team management experience
  • 10+ years of planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer software experience
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment
  • Experience designing and developing large scale, high-traffic applications
  • Experience designing or architecting new and existing systems

Responsibilities

  • Define and drive the long-term technical strategy for edge platform infrastructure.
  • Lead the architecture of next-generation instance platforms and fleet automation systems.
  • Own technical decisions on resource allocation and system design for various programs.
  • Drive clarity in ambiguous problem spaces related to edge environments.
  • Serve as a strategic technical advisor to senior leadership.
  • Mentor and develop engineers across the organization and raise the technical bar.
