As a System Reliability Engineer at Apple, you will collaborate with diverse hardware teams to ensure products are durable, reliable, and exceed expectations. You will lead cross-functional teams and design innovative reliability tests while driving continuous product improvements. The role involves identifying high-risk failure modes early in the design process and working closely with design engineering teams to mitigate those risks. Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or an equivalent field
- 3+ years of experience in a related field or industry
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally, as needed
- M.S. or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics or an equivalent field
- Familiarity with Failure Analysis techniques such as Optical Microscopy and X-ray/CT
- Statistical experience with tools like Weibull and JMP
- Solid understanding of Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- A proactive, can-do attitude with a passion for teamwork
- Strong attention to detail and curiosity about technologies
Responsibilities
- Identify high-risk failure modes early in the design process
- Work closely with design engineering teams to reduce risks
- Create new reliability tests based on the physics of failure
- Develop and deliver critical test equipment and specifications
- Collaborate with vendors to meet testing deadlines
- Support failure analysis efforts and provide design recommendations
- Evaluate test data to drive continuous product improvements
