Job description

The Firmware Engineer will define and develop firmware platforms for Apple products, requiring a strong background in embedded technologies. The ideal candidate will have a passion for innovation and product development, overseeing the firmware lifecycle from inception to delivery. This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment. The engineer will be responsible for architecting, designing, developing, and maintaining hardware/software systems.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent industry experience.
  • 4+ years of embedded firmware development experience in RTOS environments.
  • Strong coding skills in C/C++ in production environments.
  • Experience with hard real-time systems and ARM architectures.
  • Familiarity with common serial communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, or UART.
  • Basic understanding of USB protocol.
  • Experience with motion/motor control systems or safety-critical systems.
  • Experience with MATLAB and Simulink.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, and maintain firmware platforms for Apple products.
  • Shape firmware features from definition to launch.
  • Implement firmware platforms, including device drivers, communications, middleware, and application/state machines.
  • Optimize software for resource-constrained embedded systems.
  • Ensure milestone delivery throughout the full product and software development lifecycle.
  • Travel domestically and internationally for development and on-site manufacturing support.
