Job description
This role is for an exceptional engineer within Apple Services focused on building robust infrastructure and data pipelines that empower creativity. You will work in a collaborative engineering group dedicated to product excellence, directly supporting tools that inspire millions of users across iOS and macOS devices. The position emphasizes building resilient, fault-tolerant distributed systems while maintaining a strong focus on the end-user experience. You will take ownership of a high-throughput platform and drive projects from architecture to production releases.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing software in Java, including advanced object-oriented design and development.
- Demonstrated experience building and operating distributed systems with strict requirements for scalability, high availability, and low latency.
- Experience working with distributed NoSQL and relational database technologies.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Strong fundamentals in storage systems.
- Familiarity with high-performance caching mechanisms.
- Familiarity with event streaming and queueing systems.
- Prior experience with media processing.
- Hands-on experience working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and technologies.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Take deep technical ownership of a high-throughput, multi-tenant platform.
- Drive projects completely end-to-end, from initial architecture and design reviews through to seamless production releases.
- Ensure services meet strict requirements for scalability, high availability, and low latency.
- Act as a key partner to teams across Apple, translating complex requirements into robust backend solutions.
- Enable new customer-facing features through backend development.
