Job description
This role is for a dedicated engineer at Apple, focusing on ASIC design and memory system architectures. The team is composed of innovative problem solvers working on cutting-edge hardware technology. The engineer will have the opportunity to craft products that enhance customer experiences. The position emphasizes collaboration and exploration of architecture trade-offs to improve system performance.
Requirements
- Experience in ASIC design with architecture research and/or development of memory or highly interconnected system architectures.
- Knowledge of RTL/micro-architecture.
- Familiarity with high-performance memory subsystems, including DRAM controller, PHY architecture and design, DFI interface, and DRAM interface calibration/training mechanisms and algorithms.
- Systems experience in characterizing performance, conducting comparison studies, and documenting and publishing results.
- Bachelor's Degree with 0+ years of experience.
Responsibilities
- Drive new memory system architectures from DRAM up.
- Explore architecture and feature trade-offs in system performance, area, and power consumption.
- Develop memory hierarchies for high-performance parallel computer architectures, specifically system-on-a-chip (SoC).
- Work with the performance team to develop performance/power simulators, models, and test suites.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage.
