Job description

The Principal Overhead Transmission Line Engineer will play a key role in Jacobs' Energy & Power Group, focusing on the complexities of decarbonization and utility modernization. This position involves close collaboration with regional and global Transmission & Distribution delivery teams to support utility and developer clients. The engineer will be responsible for developing design deliverables for utility upgrades and acting as a technical advisor. Mentoring team members and participating in industry events will also be part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Engineering or related engineering discipline
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) within the United States
  • Minimum 15 years of direct Overhead Transmission Line Engineering design experience
  • Advanced knowledge of NESC, RUS, ASCE and other industry design specifications
  • Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Pole, and PLS-Tower software

Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with utility and developer clients to understand their standards and design guidelines
  • Develop design deliverables independently and ensure they are completed on-time and within budget
  • Mentor team members across North America and globally
  • Support the sales and proposal preparation process for new contracts
  • Perform project scoping and prepare task orders as required
