Job description

In this hands-on role at Apple, you will lead Operations Engineering efforts focused on developing innovative Thermal modules for high-quality products. You will collaborate with suppliers and engineering teams to enhance manufacturing and testing processes while driving continuous improvement. Your mechanical manufacturing expertise will be crucial in managing new product introductions and ensuring operational readiness for mass production. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering exceptional quality.

Requirements

  • 1-5+ years of experience supporting new product launches in a Mechanical Engineering role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, MSME, or MBA is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 30%.
  • Good understanding of Mechanical Design, Thermodynamics, Simulations, Modeling, and CAD.
  • Experience with manufacturing processes of Graphite, including die cut processes and thermal conductivity validation.
  • Knowledge or experience in Fans, Heat pipes, vapor chambers, cold plates, and Heat fins in portables and desktops is a plus.
  • Strong skills in statistical analysis using tools like JMP.
  • Experience in Automation, Engineering management, Program management, and Contract Manufacturing is a plus.
  • Strong project management skills in a global matrix organization.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Experience working with international OEMs and Contract Manufacturers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead experiments to produce timely and accurate analyses for design and supply chain decisions.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and engineering teams to develop manufacturing and test processes.
  • Use industry-standard tools to identify risks and optimize process parameters.
  • Develop robust processes for failure analysis and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead multi-functional activities for operational readiness in all new product introduction phases.
  • Drive process development and capability assessment activities to ensure alignment with part design documentation.
  • Assign tasks and work with suppliers to support process development and data gathering activities.
  • Establish validation procedures for tooling acceptance in development builds and mass production.
  • Review supplier equipment and fixture designs to ensure design compliance.
  • Work with supplier engineering teams to secure resources and commit to schedules.
  • Assess supplier readiness for build events and production ramp, providing recommendations to mitigate risks.
  • Evaluate prospective suppliers regarding production capability and quality management.
  • Provide technical direction to suppliers to establish and validate process capability to Apple standards.
  • Establish Quality programs and Manufacturing Process Control Plans for early detection of issues.
