Job description
The Software Engineer role in the Video Engineering group at Apple focuses on framework development, automation, and data pipeline engineering. This hands-on position is situated at the intersection of hardware, software, and machine learning, impacting the quality of next-generation Apple products. The team collaborates closely with Algorithm, Quality Assurance, and User Studies teams to drive innovation in video engineering. The role requires on-site presence in SCV for direct interaction with lab equipment and user study participants.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant industry experience
- 2+ years of experience in Python programming
- 1+ years of experience in software framework design and development
- 1+ years of experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS
- Comfortable with Git, REST APIs, SQL, and NoSQL databases
- Experience designing and deploying automated systems
- Solid understanding of the software development lifecycle and engineering best practices
- Experience with robotics or industrial automation, including familiarity with robot kinematics and motion planning
- Strong curiosity and drive to explore new technologies, including AI/LLM tools
- Familiarity with device automation and UI scripting on Apple platforms
- Experience building internal tooling or lightweight web interfaces
- Good verbal and written communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Responsibilities
- Develop frameworks and tools for data collection, management, and processing at scale
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in video engineering
- Interact directly with lab equipment and Apple devices during user studies
- Design and implement automated systems to enhance workflows
- Explore and integrate new technologies to solve novel problems
- Build internal tooling and lightweight web interfaces to support backend and automation work
