Job description
As a Construction Engineer at Jacobs, you will be part of a collaborative team focused on providing engineering and construction management services for various infrastructure projects in the Milwaukee area. This role emphasizes innovation and excellence in construction practices, particularly on highway, roadway, and bridge projects. Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in roadway/highway, bridge, or general civil construction projects
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related discipline
- Experience on WisDOT construction projects
- Ability to drive to/from project locations in southern Wisconsin and/or northern Illinois
- Working knowledge of construction engineering and document control
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications, including Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook
- Excellent organizational and written and verbal communication skills
- Local to Milwaukee, WI or Chicago/Northern IL
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Inspector on WisDOT projects
- Document contractor progress and quantities completed
- Perform daily inspections to verify that the Contractor work is being completed in accordance with the contract documents
- Prepare daily construction reports that identify the contractor workforce, equipment, and activities, site visitors, and includes daily progress photos
- Review contract plans, specifications, submittals and material information
- Keep the Project Leader or Resident Engineer informed of the Contractor’s progress and activities
- Report and document any field conditions that deviate from the Contract
- Utilize contract documents to perform general monitoring and documentation of construction activities
