Job description

The Associate-level position in the Fintech & Payments team at Morgan Stanley focuses on equity research, analyzing macroeconomic and microeconomic conditions, and company fundamentals. The role involves creating financial models, writing research reports, and monitoring industry news to provide investment recommendations. Candidates will engage with institutional investors and collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce comprehensive industry reports. Requirements

  • At least 2 years of professional experience in equity research, investment banking, and/or the fintech industry
  • Experience using Excel to build and maintain three-statement financial models; advanced Excel proficiency is required
  • Professional writing experience, including crafting equity research notes and developing industry reports
  • Strong attention to detail is a must
  • Ability to adapt quickly and work well under pressure
  • High EQ, strong personal drive, energy, creativity, curiosity, organization, and a team-oriented mindset
  • Strong PowerPoint skills are required
  • Experience with Python is a plus but not required
  • CFA is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain financial and industry models, leveraging skills in accounting, finance, and economics
  • Assist in writing research reports for initiations of coverage, analysis of data, earnings results, and industry news
  • Monitor industry-related news flow and analyze implications for companies under coverage
  • Develop and maintain relationships with investor relations personnel and management of companies under coverage
  • Conduct industry diligence and primary research through surveys, expert conference calls, and various channel checks to evaluate industry trends
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to produce larger industry reports
  • Leverage all available resources to generate differentiated insights for writing research reports
  • Support internal sales and trading teams with timely analysis of sector breaking news
  • Engage with institutional investors, responding effectively to in-depth questions and bespoke requests
