Job description
The Manufacturing IT/MES Technical Support Engineer at Rivian is responsible for addressing application-related issues and implementing changes in manufacturing application systems. This role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency through system configuration and process improvements. The engineer will collaborate with various teams, including product and process engineers, to optimize manufacturing processes. A strong emphasis is placed on troubleshooting and automation to minimize downtime and improve overall factory operations.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent work experience.
- 1+ years of experience with Manufacturing IT Systems.
- Familiarity with MES applications like FTPC, Kepware, and Ignition.
- Knowledge of manufacturing systems and processes, including MES and Quality Systems.
- Basic system troubleshooting skills.
- Experience in resolving simple to moderately complex issues through root cause analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities
- Act as an escalation point for all MES related incidents to minimize downtime on factory operations.
- Perform system configuration changes including rebalancing and line changes to achieve operational efficiencies.
- Collaborate with plant commissioning teams to launch manufacturing systems.
- Update documentation to reflect system changes and processes.
- Work with product teams and process engineers to define line and station processes and configurations.
- Identify and remove repetitive work through automation using SRE principles.
- Conduct root cause analysis and collaborate with relevant teams.
- Be available to work weekends, holidays, and on-call to meet operational objectives.
- Train and support operations analysts on day-to-day processes.
- Develop and maintain documentation including user manuals, system configurations, and functional specifications.
