Job description
Microsoft is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Specialized Clouds Power Platform team, focusing on building and operating Power Automate services in air-gapped and sovereign cloud environments. This role combines software engineering and site reliability engineering, ensuring that services meet strict security and compliance requirements. The engineer will work on distributed systems, drive design and implementation, and contribute to operational excellence. A strong emphasis is placed on automation, observability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field and 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) based on a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) with Polygraph.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
- Verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
Responsibilities
- Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) for service components, owning availability, reliability, and operational health.
- Participate in on-call rotations, responding to incidents by assessing impact, troubleshooting issues, and driving resolution.
- Lead or contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) and postmortems to ensure learnings translate into systemic improvements.
- Develop and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment systems for safe and automated releases.
- Collaborate with Public Cloud teams to onboard features and resolve dependencies.
- Mentor engineers, share knowledge, and contribute to team standards and best practices.
