As an Amazon Field Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, focusing on design, maintenance, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with diverse teams to ensure the reliability and performance of data center operations. This role involves troubleshooting, conducting root cause analysis, and developing innovative solutions to enhance capacity and sustainability. You will also lead engineering audits and support new construction projects, making a significant impact on AWS's global infrastructure.
Requirements
- 4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering experience in mission critical facilities such as data centers, power generation, or oil and gas facilities.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Professional Engineer License.
- Experience with building codes and regulations for your region.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
Responsibilities
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for new Data Centers in your region.
- Troubleshoot, conduct root cause analysis, and create corrective action documentation for site and equipment failures.
- Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews.
- Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions.
- Interface with internal teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Develop innovative solutions for AWS's data centers.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits including on-site visits within Amazon's data centers.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects, supporting construction, commissioning, and turnover.
