Job description
Apple is seeking a highly motivated process development engineer to join the Display Technologies Organization's Panel Process and Optics Engineering team. This role focuses on optical module process development and involves tackling sophisticated product design challenges in a fast-paced environment. The engineer will work on designing new process architectures, customizing equipment, and driving optimization efforts. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors is essential to ensure successful project execution.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in optics, opto-mechanics, mechatronics, robotics, or mechanical engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of direct experience in process and equipment development for optical products.
- Experience in process fundamentals including bonding, electrical interconnect, assembly, and alignment.
- Experience in designing, building, and/or operating active alignment equipment with high precision.
- Experience in equipment automation, cycle time optimization, and in-process quality control.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as NX or Solidworks.
- Familiarity with control systems and software interfaces like Labview or Python.
- Broad knowledge in optics and experience in equipment design.
- Strong record in process or equipment innovations for mass production products.
Responsibilities
- Lead new equipment and process development for optical modules.
- Convert incubation technologies and proof-of-concept equipment into scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members and external vendors to define and qualify equipment.
- Plan and execute DOE empirical trials, data analysis, and documentation.
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and executives.
- Monitor relevant industrial equipment and process manufacturing technology trends.
- Evaluate and assess new equipment suppliers.
- Travel internationally to work with vendors in factories.
