Job description

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior R&D Software Engineer to develop advanced VLSI Physical Design Algorithms. The role focuses on inventing new optimization engines and improving existing algorithms to enhance chip performance while minimizing power consumption. The team enjoys high intellectual freedom and works closely with design teams to implement solutions. Candidates should have a strong background in VLSI algorithms and a passion for crafting outstanding software.

Requirements

  • BS, MS, PhD or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • 6+ years in VLSI algorithms development using C++
  • Strong understanding of VLSI timing optimization and related concepts
  • Familiarity with design implementation tools such as ICC2, Innovus, PrimeTime, Tempus, and StarRC
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Invent new optimization engines that increase chip frequency while minimizing power consumption.
  • Improve algorithms in C++ for gate-level sizing, buffering, and power minimization.
  • Own the entire process from discovery of optimization opportunities to solution development.
  • Work directly with design teams to facilitate the deployment of new solutions.

Benefits

  • Employees at NVIDIA are often offered comprehensive, day-one benefits—including medical, dental, and vision coverage with HSA support, life and disability insurance, an Employee Assistance Program, and a 401(k) with auto-enrollment. Many roles also have generous time off and holidays, donation matching (up to $10,000), and a wide menu of extras like FSAs, commuter benefits, legal and identity-theft protection, pet insurance, and wellness discounts. Optional programs can include student-loan and home-purchase support, plus family care resources and expert medical services.
