JobsControl Systems Engineer
Job description
The Camera Systems Engineering Group at Apple is focused on developing advanced camera technology, including systems for calibration and correction to ensure high image quality. The team is looking for a skilled Camera System Controls Engineer to contribute to the design and development of next-generation camera systems. This role involves working on various aspects of control systems, including requirements determination, systems-level analysis, and prototype development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in control theory and experience with real-time control implementations.
Requirements
- BS degree and a minimum of 10 years of relevant industry experience in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Control Systems, or a related technical field.
- Experience in dynamic modeling, control theory, and/or state-space analysis including feedback control design.
- Experience with MATLAB/Simulink for control system design and/or real-time control system implementation.
- MS/PhD in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a focus on control system design and implementation.
- Experience with estimation theory, Kalman filtering, and state-space modeling.
- Experience with real-time control implementation using microcontrollers, DSP processors, and embedded C/C++ programming.
- Experience with autofocus control systems, optical image stabilization, inertial stabilization, precision positioning systems, or machine learning/computer vision algorithms for camera controls.
- Experience with actuator control including Shape Memory Alloy (SMA), Piezoelectric (PZT), voice coil motors, or MEMS devices.
- Experience with test equipment including dynamic signal analyzers, oscilloscopes, and frequency response analyzers.
- Experience with multidisciplinary engineering teams and the ability to take ownership of complex problems.
Responsibilities
- Determine requirements and specifications for control systems.
- Conduct systems-level analysis and modeling of control systems.
- Develop robust control strategies for camera systems.
- Guide the design and construction of prototypes to assess user impact.
- Define tests and procedures for evaluating control systems.
- Document requirements and rationale for design decisions.
Benefits
- Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
