Job description

The role is part of Apple's Hardware Engineering system validation team, focusing on validating the performance of Apple SoCs and other critical modules like cameras and displays. The position involves close collaboration with module designers and functional test writers to create validation plans and execute system tests. The engineer will also troubleshoot issues, develop automated testing methodologies, and optimize test flows using AI/ML techniques. This position requires international travel approximately 10% of the time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience with hardware/software architecture and interoperability of complex systems
  • Scripting proficiency in Python and experience with automation frameworks
  • Experience in hardware system design and integration, SoC design/integration, debug/testing, or validation
  • Familiarity with computer architectures and logic design
  • Experience with embedded system debug and lab equipment such as oscilloscopes and thermal chambers
  • Strong proficiency in Python and Lua, and proficiency in Shell scripting
  • General software development experience including Python and C++

Responsibilities

  • Validate Apple SoCs and run testing on other modules such as cameras, displays, and sensors.
  • Work closely with module designers and functional test writers to define validation plans.
  • Develop and execute system tests leveraging scripts and automation frameworks.
  • Serve as the first line of debug when issues occur, triaging and isolating failures.
  • Partner with domain experts to define Design of Experiments and develop root-cause theories.
  • Develop automated testing for power consumption data collection from battery and power supply systems.
  • Create new test methodologies to expand test coverage to new modalities.
  • Optimize test and calibration flows for hardware sub-systems using AI/ML techniques.
