Job description

This role involves building an evaluation platform for Apple's generative AI and agent systems. The position is hands-on, requiring strong Python skills and the ability to take ownership of features and services. The engineer will collaborate closely with research engineers and various teams to productionize ML research and improve developer experience. The focus is on delivering reliable services while maintaining operational ownership of the code in production.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of software engineering experience building and shipping production services.
  • Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with FastAPI and Pydantic.
  • Familiarity with AI coding tools and the agentic LLM landscape.
  • Hands-on evaluation experience with evaluation orchestration frameworks.
  • Real working knowledge of LLMs in production and solid engineering fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of features and services within the evaluation platform.
  • Partner with research engineers to productionize their prototype code.
  • Identify and improve rough edges in the codebase.
  • Help build SDKs and abstractions for other Apple teams.
  • Write tests, set up CI, and monitor production code.

Benefits

  • Employees at Apple are often offered comprehensive benefits that support physical and mental well-being—flexible medical plans, confidential counseling, onsite wellness centers at major campuses, and resources for fitness and daily life. Families typically receive fertility support, paid parental leave with gradual return, caregiving leave, and dependent-care guidance, while financial perks commonly include stock grants (with purchase discounts), 401(k) matching, and income-protection coverage. Employees also see robust time off, Apple University learning and tuition reimbursement, donation matching and paid volunteer hours, and deep product and partner discounts.
