Job description
The Swift Compiler Team at Apple is seeking a passionate software engineer to enhance the Swift programming language and its developer tools. This role involves collaboratively designing and implementing new language features while improving compile-time performance. The team focuses on enhancing the developer experience through diagnostics and compiler-driven tools. Candidates should be creative, self-motivated, and able to communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
Requirements
- Strong computer science fundamentals, demonstrated through an undergraduate degree or equivalent self-guided program.
- Prior experience working on compilers or developer tools, either in a previous role or through open source contributions.
- Proficiency in software design and programming in a statically-typed language such as C++ or Swift.
- Experience in Swift development.
- Clear technical communication skills and receptiveness to constructive feedback and mentorship.
Responsibilities
- Collaboratively design and implement new language features for Swift.
- Improve compile-time performance of the Swift compiler.
- Enhance the Swift developer experience through diagnostics and other compiler-driven tools.
- Provide feedback and communicate effectively with team members and the open source Swift community.
- Contribute to design decisions affecting the Swift programming language and its developer-facing tools.
