Job description

As a Vehicle Build and Bring Up Engineer at Rivian, you will serve as the crucial link between design engineering and the physical fleet. Your primary focus will be on ensuring successful hardware and software bring-up for vehicles in the prototyping facility. You will design automation processes and workflows that enable the operations team to deploy advanced autonomy stacks with confidence. This role requires a hands-on mentality and a passion for solving complex hardware issues on the shop floor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a prototyping or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong background in Industrial or Systems Engineering with experience in designing automated build sequences.
  • High proficiency with ISO 14229 (UDS), DoIP (ISO 13400), and DoCAN (ISO 15765).
  • Expert-level proficiency in Python or Bash for workflow automation.
  • Hands-on experience with automotive test execution environments like Vector CANoe/CANalyzer or NI TestStand.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the transition of complex build tasks from engineering execution to operator-led processes.
  • Create work procedures, tooling, and documentation for the operations team.
  • Own the end-to-end success of hardware and software bring-up for the Data Collection fleet.
  • Validate that every build meets rigorous data-logging standards.
  • Lead the physical integration and modification of base vehicles into data collection platforms.
  • Develop and implement end-of-line testing tools for the prototyping environment.
  • Act as the technical lead for the shop floor, empowering technicians with the necessary tools and documentation.

Benefits

  • Employees at Rivian are often offered comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) with company match, ESPP and potential RSU grants, performance bonuses, and generous time off including paid parental and sick leave. Perks can include 24/7 mental-health coaching and therapy, Hinge Health for Anthem enrollees, tuition assistance and professional development, plus on-site food and a wide range of employee discounts on items like computers, mobile phones, home loans, and pet care.
