Rivian is seeking a highly motivated mechanical design and release engineer to shape the physical design of electric vehicle systems. This role focuses on designing and developing exterior components for current and future Rivian models. • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
• 1-2 examples of design internship experience or a similar professional role
• Skilled in CATIA v5/v6 or similar CAD software
• Hands-on experience in the design-through-manufacturing process
• Proficiency in generating 3D geometry and sectional data
• Experience or involvement in process improvement initiatives
• Strong logical reasoning skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• A proactive approach to preventing issues and avoiding project delays
• A drive to pursue continuous improvement and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction

• Design, develop, and release exterior components including front and rear fascia assemblies and exterior trim components
• Use engineering fundamentals to expand knowledge in various manufacturing processes
• Provide feedback and generate high-quality A-surfaces that meet DFM requirements
• Develop exterior components using first principle driven design direction
• Communicate effectively with cross-functional groups managing several parts and processes
• Create different CAD concepts, detailed 2D sections, and concept 3D CAD during initial development
• Work with cross-functional teams to solve problems and develop designs that meet system requirements
