Job description

The Principal Engineer role in Azure Storage and Disks focuses on leading a high-impact team to enhance storage solutions for AI-scale workloads. This position involves driving innovations to optimize performance, scalability, and resiliency of the storage control plane and disks platform. The engineer will collaborate with various stakeholders and contribute to cutting-edge solutions that support demanding AI applications globally. This role offers an opportunity to grow expertise in distributed systems while influencing technical decisions across Azure products.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline and 6+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C# or Java, or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements.
  • 4+ years of people management experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on software development experience with a focus on Cloud and large distributed systems architectures.
  • 2+ years of experience being a technical lead.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders to determine requirements for scalable, reliable, and high-performance storage solutions.
  • Lead the design and implementation of enhancements to optimize the storage and disk control plane for AI-scale workloads.
  • Identify and address bottlenecks in system performance and scalability while driving improvements across the platform.
  • Act as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) to ensure system availability, performance, and fault tolerance, including participation in on-call rotations.
  • Leverage subject matter expertise in Azure Storage, Disk, and distributed systems to influence technical decisions and product roadmaps.
