This role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration and the establishment of best practices to ensure the scalability and reliability of hardware products. You will influence product design from concept to mass production while balancing performance, cost, and manufacturability. Your leadership will significantly impact product quality and operational efficiency across Amazon's fulfillment centers worldwide.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of hardware development experience.
- Experience solving complex hardware engineering problems.
- Master's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent.
- Experience working with interdisciplinary teams to execute product design from concept to production.
- Experience with the project management of technical projects.
Responsibilities
- Define and implement DfX frameworks to guide hardware design for manufacturability, testability, reliability, and serviceability.
- Drive cross-team alignment on DfX standards, tools, and processes to reduce time-to-market and production costs.
- Serve as the primary technical liaison between engineering and CM partners.
- Develop and maintain CM capability matrices, risk mitigation plans, and supplier performance dashboards.
- Design and validate hardware platforms that support high-volume, global-scale production.
- Optimize bill-of-materials and manufacturing processes for cost, quality, and sustainability.
- Partner with Advanced Robotics, Systems Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to align hardware design with system-level requirements.
- Mentor and guide other engineers to foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Lead investigations into production defects, yield issues, and field failures.
- Apply data-driven methodologies to improve product reliability and manufacturability.
- Identify and drive adoption of advanced manufacturing technologies to enhance efficiency and quality.
- Standardize test, inspection, and packaging processes across CM sites.
- Ensure all hardware designs comply with international safety, regulatory, and environmental standards.
- Develop risk management frameworks to address design, manufacturing, and field-service risks.
- Contribute to long-term hardware strategy by evaluating emerging technologies and trends.
- Pilot and champion innovative DfX approaches to accelerate development cycles.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
