Job description

The Security Engineer role on the STRIKE team at Amazon focuses on securing Amazon's environments and protecting customer trust. The team conducts targeted security engagements with various business units to identify and remediate security gaps. This position requires a passion for Information Security and the ability to communicate risks effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences. The role offers opportunities for career growth within a diverse and inclusive team culture.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++ or similar object-oriented languages.
  • Knowledge of networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP/IP.
  • 2+ years of experience in threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, system administration, or network security.
  • Experience with AWS products and services.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct time-bound targeted security engagements with business units across Amazon Stores to drive risk remediation.
  • Identify cross-cutting security gaps in differentiated environments and drive remediation to resolution.
  • Partner with core security teams to improve existing security mechanisms and propose new ones when needed.
  • Generate actionable security insights from engagements that inform investment in self-service security capabilities.
  • Enable business units to independently identify and resolve security challenges, reducing long-term dependency on security teams.
  • Act as a Trusted Advisor across the organization, clearly articulating risks to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
