Job description

The Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE) role at AWS Engagement Security focuses on building and operating large-scale, distributed systems that enhance internal security services. The team collaborates closely with security engineers, machine learning engineers, and project managers to ensure that AWS meets its high security standards. This position involves mentoring developers and participating in on-call rotations to maintain service availability. Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
  • 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in the full software development life cycle
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain reliable, scalable infrastructure that leverages AI to deliver faster services to customers.
  • Develop automation tools and frameworks to eliminate manual operational work.
  • Mentor one or more developers on the team.
  • Own the operational health of services, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to ensure 24/7 service availability.
  • Collaborate with security and ML teams to improve system architecture and operational excellence.
