Job description

As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support to AWS Data Centers, ensuring their design, operation, and maintenance meet high standards. You will collaborate with diverse teams to troubleshoot issues, develop innovative solutions, and lead engineering audits. This role emphasizes a mix of office and field work, allowing you to engage directly with data center operations. You will play a key role in expanding AWS's infrastructure to meet evolving customer needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of mission critical facilities, especially data centers
  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
  • Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
  • NETA or ASHRAE certification or commissioning specific education courses

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
  • Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training and complex operating procedure reviews.
  • Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions.
  • Interface with internal teams to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability.
  • Develop innovative solutions for AWS’s data centers.
  • Initiate and lead engineering audits including on-site visits within Amazon’s data centers.
  • Act as resident engineer during new construction projects.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
