Job description
The Product Design Engineer for Pixel Phones at Google will be part of a fast-paced multi-disciplinary team focused on designing and delivering innovative mobile experiences. This role involves using creativity and engineering expertise to solve a variety of engineering problems, including the design, analysis, and prototyping of new concepts. The engineer will collaborate with vendors and outside sources to ensure parts are manufactured effectively. The position emphasizes the integration of advanced designs and techniques in consumer electronics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3 years of experience designing mechanical components such as plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
- 3 years of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.
Responsibilities
- Design a subsystem or multiple individual parts from concept to production.
- Collaborate with suppliers for subsystems or individual parts throughout the design and manufacturing process.
- Identify the root cause of design, manufacturing, or reliability issues and develop corrective actions.
- Balance design considerations such as functionality, sustainability, reliability, human factors, manufacturability, cost, and aesthetics.
