The Senior Director of Engineering for Google Global Fleet will lead the engineering teams responsible for forecasting, planning, and allocating infrastructure capacity across Google. This role focuses on developing innovative solutions to enhance capacity delivery velocity using AI techniques. The director will work closely with business leaders to address both short and long-term capacity needs. The position requires a strategic vision to drive continuous innovation and establish industry leadership in cloud services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 15 years of experience in software development, design and architecture, data structures, algorithms, and testing.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or Computer Architecture is preferred.
- Experience in capacity planning, supply chain technologies, and operations research is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Formulate a strategic vision for the Google Global Fleet engineering organization.
- Lead a large-scale engineering organization across forecasting, planning, infrastructure design, and allocation.
- Advocate for software quality and testing methodologies while focusing on metrics and continuous process improvement.
- Oversee the design, construction, and deployment of fundamental software infrastructure for Google and AI2 services.
- Direct the management of robust, scalable systems to meet exponential market demand.
- Define and instill engineering excellence through principled design choices and standardized processes.
