The Senior Software Engineer for MySQL Infrastructure will be part of a dedicated team that builds and maintains a managed MySQL platform for Bloomberg's engineering teams. This role focuses on developing automated solutions for database management while ensuring stability and security. The team values practical problem-solving and collaboration, leveraging a variety of programming languages and technologies. The engineer will work closely with other teams to enhance operational processes and documentation.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience in object-oriented languages such as Java or Python.
- Ability to debug and correct production problems.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Working knowledge of modern build and CI/CD tooling including Jenkins, Maven, and Jira.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design, and multi-threaded programming.
- Experience writing code that interacts with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- SQL fundamentals and understanding of basic database operations.
Responsibilities
- Develop automated and self-service solutions for database infrastructure management.
- Build telemetry, metrics, and monitoring solutions to reduce the cost of managing services at scale.
- Prioritize stability and security above all other competing priorities.
