Job description

The Senior Manager role in the Commodities Quantitative & Commercial Advisory team at EY involves leading projects focused on commodity operations and risk management. This position requires a blend of technical, financial, and quantitative expertise to advise clients on complex commodity topics. The role emphasizes building long-term client relationships and mentoring junior team members while fostering a collaborative work environment. The team provides specialized advisory services, leveraging deep industry knowledge and analytical support.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics, financial engineering, engineering, or economics and econometrics.
  • Eight or more years of related work experience, including at least four years of people and/or project management experience.
  • Strong knowledge in one of R or Python programming language and strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of derivatives pricing models and computational finance, such as commodity market factor simulation techniques/methods.
  • Experience and a continuing strong interest in financial and commodity markets and related financial instruments.
  • Ability to work within a given budget and schedule, and provide results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team prioritizing multiple tasks, deadlines, and project stakeholders.
  • A strong work ethic, strong communications skills, and willingness to embrace new challenges and ideas with a flexible, positive, solution-oriented mindset.
  • The flexibility and the willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Already possess or ability to complete an approved certification within 2 years of hiring.

Responsibilities

  • Using a commercial industry perspective to advise clients on advanced practices, typical industry approaches, and market behavior.
  • Lead development of quantitative financial models for commodity and financial contracts, including implementing market factor simulation techniques and a variety of stochastic and numerical methods.
  • Using and enhancing proprietary valuation models, including the selection of appropriate inputs and techniques.
  • Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks.
  • Develop relationships across EY and serve as a subject matter expert for other EY teams.
  • Presenting, both internally and externally, to senior leadership and enhancing the EY brand by participating in speaking seminars and other brand-enforcing presentation opportunities.
  • Providing an active role in mentoring and coaching junior consultants and shepherding their careers as they advance in the firm.
  • Delivering client reports describing work performed, considerations, recommendations, and outcomes.
  • Problem solving under uncertainty to adapt existing approaches and analytics styles to new commodity, financial, and renewables markets and new client objectives.
  • Working across a team and independently with a highly adaptive, flexible approach to solving new problems.
