Job description
The Data Center Project Manager, Mechanical will oversee the full lifecycle of mechanical systems for data center construction projects at Apple. This role is part of the Global Design and Construction team, which is responsible for delivering mission-critical data center projects. The position requires strong construction project management skills and hands-on mechanical oversight experience. The manager will work closely with design partners, contractors, and internal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience focused on hyperscale or large-scale colocation data center construction and commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience managing the mechanical equipment procurement lifecycle including bid leveling and PO issuance.
- Hands-on experience developing and executing Commissioning (Cx) Plans and schedules.
- Working knowledge of BMS controls systems and data center cooling infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret construction documents and mechanical plans.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally approximately 40-50% of the time.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, or equivalent.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage mission-critical data center construction projects and ensure the successful delivery of all mechanical systems.
- Oversee the full mechanical equipment lifecycle from bid leveling through just-in-time delivery.
- Work closely with design partners, contractors, and internal operations teams.
- Drive project success from planning to closeout.
- Coordinate TAB activities and reporting in accordance with ASHRAE standards.
- Develop and execute commissioning checklists for mechanical and BMS controls systems.
