Job description

The Reservoir Engineer will be an essential member of Goldman Sachs' Acquisitions & Divestitures team, providing advanced engineering support and collaborating closely with technical and corporate finance teams. This role focuses on applying reservoir engineering practices and geological knowledge of North American basins to support various clients in the energy sector. The engineer will conduct technical diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and capital market transactions, while also evaluating well performance and economic modeling. Strong communication and organizational skills are crucial for preparing technical materials and participating in presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum or Chemical Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
  • 3+ years of investment banking A&D or technical experience, or 5+ years of technical experience in Reservoir Engineering at an Oil & Gas Operator
  • Technical knowledge and expertise across major North American basins and emerging plays within the oil and gas industry
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
  • High level of discretion dealing with confidential matters

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical diligence support and inputs for modeling efforts related to upstream, midstream, and oilfield services transactions.
  • Identify and understand key engineering and geological drivers for well performance and forecasting.
  • Evaluate and analyze key well design and completion trends using public and private data.
  • Perform technical reviews on assets across various North American basins.
  • Determine key technical and financial assumptions for upstream and midstream assets to drive valuation.
  • Build, run, and maintain economic databases containing detailed technical information.
  • Prepare internal and external technical materials for pitch books and presentations.
