Job description

The Crypto Services team at Apple is seeking a collaborative and innovative Software Engineer to design the next generation of security infrastructure. This role focuses on building robust software that interfaces with specialized security environments, ensuring the cryptographic services remain cutting-edge. The engineer will work on maintaining core Apple security services and implementing solutions for post-quantum cryptography standards. This position offers the opportunity to protect user privacy and security while enhancing the effectiveness of engineering teams across Apple.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience
  • Experience with at least one systems programming language such as Java, Go, or C++
  • Solid understanding of cryptographic fundamentals and security best practices
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
  • Strong collaborative skills and eagerness to learn new technologies
  • Deep understanding of crypto principles and interest in post-quantum cryptography
  • Proven experience with Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) or similar key management systems
  • Strong background in building developer tools or internal platforms
  • Expertise in designing and implementing automated testing frameworks
  • Track record of creating clear technical documentation and training materials
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain custom software solutions for HSM platforms
  • Proactively engineer solutions to keep pace with evolving cryptographic standards
  • Own the design and maintenance of HSM testing frameworks and tooling
  • Collaborate with fellow engineers to identify sustainable approaches
  • Improve performance and security of tooling used in cryptographic services
  • Mentor other engineers and facilitate effective collaboration across teams
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation and training materials
