Job description

Rivian is seeking a Reliability Engineer to focus on the reliability of Electric Adventure Vehicles. This role involves collaborating with design, validation, and manufacturing teams to ensure that reliability is integrated from the concept phase through to mass production. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in reliability engineering and a passion for outdoor adventure. The team is dedicated to solving complex technical problems and improving product robustness.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (B.S.)
  • One or more years of industry experience in a dedicated reliability engineering role is preferred.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proven interest in reliability engineering.
  • Experience facilitating Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEAs) and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of a coding language, preferably Python, and statistical software for reliability analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the Design-for-Reliability (DfR) strategy for the vehicle's electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with design and validation teams to develop creative solutions for reliability problems.
  • Set and communicate reliability requirements and targets for components and subsystems.
  • Facilitate Design FMEA sessions to improve validation test planning.
  • Develop reliability design guidelines and apply lessons learned for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with simulation teams to assess problem areas before physical parts are available.
  • Specify reliability validation plans using a physics of failure approach.
  • Facilitate failure analysis to understand root causes of failures.
  • Research failure mechanisms of new technologies and applications.
  • Influence supplier selection for higher reliability and provide guidance on reliability requirements.
