As a Member of Technical Staff - Electronics Engineer, Actuators & Drives at Amazon's Frontier AI & Robotics team, you will design and test motor drive electronics for robotic actuators. This role involves working on printed circuit board designs that enable advanced robotic systems. You will collaborate with firmware and mechanical engineers to ensure optimal performance and reliability of the actuators. The team focuses on developing cutting-edge AI models to enhance robotic capabilities in warehouse automation.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a closely related technical field
• 5+ years of professional experience in power electronics design, particularly in motor drive or power converter hardware
• Expertise in inverter and motor drive circuit design, including MOSFET/IGBT selection and thermal management
• Experience with current sensing circuit design and PCB-level integration for motor control applications
• Proficiency with electronics design tools such as Altium, KiCad, or Cadence
• Hands-on experience with power electronics lab characterization and validation
• Familiarity with wide-bandgap semiconductor devices like GaN and SiC
• Knowledge of EMC design practices and achieving CE/FCC compliance

• Conceptualize, design, and validate motor drive electronics for robotic actuators from concept through production
• Lead PCB-level design of high-power-density motor drive boards, ensuring signal integrity and thermal management
• Characterize and optimize inverter switching performance and thermal behavior using bench measurements and simulations
• Define and implement current sensing architectures and position/velocity sensing interfaces for motor control
• Collaborate with firmware engineers to define hardware-software interfaces for motor drive control loops
• Work with motor design engineers to specify electrical characteristics of custom motors and validate integrated systems
• Lead hardware bring-up, functional testing, and failure analysis for new actuator electronics prototypes
• Define electronics design standards and mentor junior engineers in best practices
