Job description
The Thermal Test Engineer at Apple will focus on thermal characterization and validation for consumer hardware programs across all platforms. This role requires hands-on expertise in thermal testing, including the installation of thermocouples and the evaluation of thermal interface materials. The engineer will work closely with mechanical and systems engineers to identify thermal risks and develop mitigation strategies. Daily tasks will involve running thermal test plans and documenting findings for stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 2-5+ years of hands-on thermal testing experience in a hardware development or manufacturing environment
- Experience with thermal test equipment and instrumentation, including DAQ systems and thermal test chambers
- Direct experience evaluating and qualifying thermal interface materials such as phase change materials and thermal greases
- Demonstrated experience with multiple cooling technologies, including natural convection and liquid cooling
- Strong thermal engineering fundamentals in conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer
- Proficient in Python or equivalent for test automation and data acquisition scripting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
