Job description
The Packaging Module Development Engineer at Intel Corporation focuses on the development of packaging materials technology for co-packaged optical semiconductor assemblies. This role requires collaboration with various teams, including packaging assembly, materials suppliers, and semiconductor vendors. The engineer will conduct studies to characterize materials and assess their feasibility for product use. The position also involves developing assembly processes and innovative solutions to enhance Intel's packaging technologies.
Requirements
- Candidates must possess a MS with 3+ years of experience or a PhD degree with 1+ years of work experience post-graduation.
- Graduate degree discipline can be in Optics or Photonics Engineering, Materials Science Engineering related to Photonics, Applied Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related fields.
- 1+ years of experience in semiconductor packaging and optical assembly is preferred.
- Experience in optical connector/component design and manufacturing is preferred.
- Experience in photolithography materials and processes is preferred.
- Experience in ceramics and glass processing is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Conduct fundamental studies and perform experiments to characterize materials and identify potential failure modes.
- Work closely with materials suppliers to develop and source materials formulations that meet technology, quality, availability, and cost targets.
- Develop a fundamental understanding of Intel's assembly process and materials interactions.
- Collaborate with materials, equipment, and process engineering teams to build material technologies on test vehicles and products.
- Develop materials assembly processes and apply novel concepts for innovative solutions.
- Develop new techniques, metrologies, tools, and quality screens to ensure early identification of potential problems with packaging quality and reliability.
