- 5+ years of experience with fiber plant design and IEEE standards.
- 2+ years of experience working with optical protocols and technologies.
- Expertise in industry standards such as ANSI/TIA, BICSI, and other relevant structured cabling guidelines.
- Master's degree in a technical field or CISCO certification.
- 2+ years of fiber handling and fiber installation processes experience.
- Experience working in hyper-scale cloud, AI, or high-performance computing environments.
- Proficiency in 2D/3D engineering tools (e.g., CAD, Revit) for design and clash detection.
- Expertise in debugging and troubleshooting.
- Significant experience in the product development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Manage vendors and manufacturers to assess new fiber optic and passive infrastructure designs.
- Automate fiber test plans and qualify fiber connectivity designs.
- Design and specify structured cabling systems for network layers at hyperscale data centers.
- Develop standards, reference designs, and installation guidelines for physical network deployments.
- Propose and deliver projects that have a significant business and/or customer impact.
- Drive discussions with customers and peers, influencing team strategy.
- Partner with internal network engineering and site operations teams to align physical design with logical network architecture.
- Manage fiber vendors and contractors, performing quality control and commissioning of fiber bundles.
- Perform mitigation analysis and site inspections to validate as-built conditions.
- Monitor module quality in the fleet and build mechanisms to remediate large scale events.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues during build, commissioning, and handover phases.
- Maintain documentation, drawings, and asset records for physical network components.
- Provide feedback to design and operations teams to drive continuous improvement of physical network standards.
Benefits
- Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
