Job description

The Software Engineer Manager for Networking Infrastructure at Google will lead a team of engineers, providing both technical leadership and people management. This role focuses on optimizing large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems while driving the development of new features for critical Google services. The team is responsible for enhancing the reliability and performance of Google's networking capabilities. As a manager, you will align team priorities with organizational goals and contribute to product strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 8 years of experience in software development.
  • 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks.
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
  • 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
  • Experience with C++, concurrency, distributed systems, infrastructure systems, performance optimization, and networking.

Responsibilities

  • Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals.
  • Develop the mid-term technical outlook and roadmap within the scope of your team(s).
  • Drive the development of new features for Stubby C++, addressing the pivotal requirements of major Google production services.
  • Lead large-scale initiatives to enhance the reliability, efficiency, performance, and stability of the Stubby C++ stack.
  • Act as a gatekeeper to ensure continuous performance and efficiency improvements over time.
