The Software Engineer III position focuses on embedded systems and firmware within Google's Platforms and Devices team. This team is responsible for developing innovative technologies that enhance user interaction with computing across various environments. The role requires a strong technical background and the ability to manage project priorities while contributing to the development of software solutions. Engineers in this position will work on critical projects that support Google's needs and have opportunities to switch teams as the business evolves.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 2 years of experience in low level systems programming languages such as C++ or C.
- 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field is preferred.
- 2 years of experience with performance, large scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, or debugging.
Responsibilities
- Participate in or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
- Review code developed by other engineers and provide feedback to ensure best practices.
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt it based on product updates and user feedback.
- Triage product or system issues and debug, track, and resolve them by analyzing the sources of issues.
- Write product or system development code.
