The Senior Staff Software Engineer for BigQuery Core Analytics at Google will play a critical role in modernizing the Dremel codebase, which is essential for processing vast amounts of data. This position requires deep expertise in software development and the ability to influence stakeholders while solving complex problems. The engineer will work closely with other teams to improve system reliability and engineering velocity. • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 7 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or networks.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture, and testing/launching software products.

• Design and advocate significant refactoring and re-architecture efforts within the Dremel related components.
• Identify key areas of technical debt and develop strategies to address them.
• Collaborate with Engineering Productivity and SRE teams to streamline development, testing, and release processes.
• Architect solutions that improve fault isolation and reduce the blast radius of failures.
• Work with other executive leads across BigQuery to align on long-term technical direction.
