This role is for a senior engineer on the core platform engineering team at AWS, focusing on designing abstractions and automation to enhance service teams' efficiency. The team operates a vast number of deployment cells across AWS regions, supporting numerous applications. The position involves engaging in the full product cycle, from architecture design to solving customer problems based on feedback. The ideal candidate will help shape the next generation of managed service infrastructure.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language
- 5+ years of experience leading design or architecture of new and existing systems
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead, or leading an engineering team
- Bachelor's degree or Master's degree
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end design and delivery of platform capabilities
- Build frameworks and abstractions that eliminate repetitive work for vendor teams
- Drive architecture decisions for infrastructure-as-code and orchestration
- Reduce operational toil through self-healing systems and improved observability
- Mentor SDEs and raise the bar through design reviews and technical standards
- Operate what you build, including on-call duties and root cause analysis
