Job description

The Microsoft AI – Bing Places Data team is looking for a Software Engineer II to enhance the use of Location, Places, and POI data for Copilot and Bing Search experiences. This role involves working with large-scale data analytics, machine learning, and AI to create rich content from global location entities. The team emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and a growth mindset to empower users and improve customer experiences. Candidates should be passionate about technology and eager to learn and share their knowledge.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, or Python is preferred.
  • 2+ years of hands-on software design and coding experience is preferred.
  • Experience in AI/ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product managers and technical leads to clarify user requirements.
  • Contribute to solution architecture and create design documents.
  • Implement maintainable and extensible code while participating in code reviews.
  • Develop and refine test plans and ensure robust test coverage for backend services.
  • Integrate telemetry and improve tools and processes to maintain compliance with reliability and accessibility standards.
  • Work with stakeholders to determine user requirements for features.
  • Contribute to breaking down larger work items into smaller tasks and provide estimations.
  • Stay current with developments that improve product availability and performance.
