The Principal Software Engineering Manager will lead a diverse team within the Microsoft Foundry Experiences team, focusing on building SDKs, UI, and agentic experiences that leverage core AI capabilities. This role involves setting technical direction, coaching engineers, and ensuring a deep understanding of customer needs to create impactful AI applications. The manager will foster a culture of ownership and continuous growth while driving AI-first engineering practices. The position emphasizes collaboration and innovation to enhance developer experiences and deliver high-quality software solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 15+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience as a people manager.
- 5+ years of technical leadership in defining and building developer experiences and scalable systems, preferably in the Generative AI, Machine Learning domain.
- 10+ years of experience shipping software products.
- 5+ years of experience in JavaScript, React, Python, .NET, C#, or similar programming languages or platforms.
- Experience leading cross-functional engineering efforts across distributed teams.
- Experience delivering customer-facing software products or platform capabilities in production environments.
- Demonstrated proficiency around leveraging AI to build AI systems.
