Job description

The AWS Data Center Global Services team is seeking an exceptional individual to join the Controls Design Engineering team, focusing on enhancing global data center design standards related to control, automation, and electrical power monitoring systems. This role involves collaboration with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure the highest standards for safety and security while delivering efficient solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data center environmental controls systems and project management. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to innovative building controls and automation initiatives.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in a data center or critical environment.
  • 1+ years of experience in utilizing or generating electrical drawings and design engineering documents focused on data center projects.
  • 2+ years of experience working with controls and monitoring solution projects.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related engineering degrees.
  • Experience with the use and programming of electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS).
  • Experience working with Modbus communication protocol.
  • Knowledge of electrical single-line diagrams, electrical distribution systems, complex electrical concepts, and data center redundancy.

Responsibilities

  • Track, document, communicate, and enhance global data center design standards.
  • Review MEP drawings with a focus on electrical drawing sets for EPMS design content.
  • Create EPMS scopes of work, provide RFI support, and review technical vendor proposals during the bid review process.
  • Coordinate with regional project managers to review and finalize project scopes of work.
  • Attend Factory Witness Tests and Equipment Qualification Tests to validate EPMS points and test device functionality.
  • Create, update, and maintain controls points list and specifications, EPMS drawing templates, and Basis of Design documentation.
  • Develop and disseminate specification documents for global projects.
  • Lead collaboration with multiple teams including construction, programmers, and engineers to accomplish initiative goals.
  • Manage and prioritize requests for information on new construction builds and existing site facilities support.
  • Serve as the central point of contact for multiple internal and external groups regarding EPMS design standards.
  • Drive innovation of new solutions to support initiatives and company goals.
  • Interact with AWS cloud services and other applications to present and analyze accumulated data.
  • Anticipate roadblocks and risks while providing escalation management.
  • Travel globally as needed to manage and support project initiatives.
