Job description

The Senior Software Test Engineer at Google will focus on improving product and engineering health through automation and testing. This role is part of the Google Pixel team, which is dedicated to creating innovative mobile experiences. Test Engineers at Google are responsible for writing scripts to automate testing and developing tools that enable developers to test their own code. The position requires a proactive approach to identifying software weaknesses and designing effective testing strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in coding, developing test methodologies, writing test plans, creating test cases, and debugging.
  • Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • 3 years of experience in specialized testing such as production testing or system integration testing is preferred.
  • 1 year of experience working in a structured organization is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize or develop automation tools or scripts to improve product and engineering health.
  • Develop test plans based on product excellence and test strategy.
  • Conduct test plan reviews with engineers within one or multiple teams.
  • Define the test framework, test preconditions, and other test control and reporting functions.
  • Improve existing test infrastructure or create new test infrastructure to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Participate in product design reviews with product managers, software and hardware engineers, and other stakeholders.
