Amazon Web Services is seeking a Product Design Electrical Engineer to join the Electrical Products and Services team, which focuses on designing and innovating electrical distribution products for data centers. The role involves collaborating with a diverse team of engineers and specialists to ensure high standards of safety, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. The engineer will be responsible for leading product design and development, with a focus on medium voltage switchgear and transformers. Requirements
- 6+ years of data center design, construction, operations, or facility maintenance experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field
- Knowledge of critical data center mechanical and electrical equipment
- Experience developing solutions and executing plans on complex projects
- Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities
- Professional Engineering or Architectural License
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region
- Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
Responsibilities
- Work with internal partner teams to solicit customer input and define design requirements for product design.
- Lead new product design, development and qualification of critical electrical power distribution equipment for AWS datacenters.
- Develop Capex and Opex spending budgets taking into account development costs with vendors, prototyping needs, testing and specialized tooling requirements.
- Work with global suppliers and manufacturers to specify appropriate electrical equipment and components.
- Ensure compliance with UL, CSA, IEC and federal, state and municipal requirements and building codes.
- Validate design through prototype, pre-production and first-of-kind builds.
- Work with field engineering and commissioning teams to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical products.
- Provide support for manufacturing activities for the new products on concurrent projects in multiple geographical locations.
- Be a leader within the product development team as well as within internal and external teams.
