As a Data Engineer on the Managed Operations Intelligence team at AWS, you will leverage your technical skills to design and build extensive data sets that support AWS' strategic initiatives. This role involves collaboration with software engineering, data science, and product management teams to create scalable data solutions that enhance growth and user experience. The position is based in Northern Virginia, where AWS is making significant investments in infrastructure and job creation. You will be part of a team that values mentorship, diverse experiences, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of data engineering experience
  • Experience with data modeling, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
  • Knowledge of distributed systems as it pertains to data storage and computing
  • Experience in at least one modern scripting or programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
  • Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions

Responsibilities

  • Interact with business and software teams to understand their business requirements and operational processes to inform system design.
  • Develop robust data models and architectures that support the organization's data-driven initiatives, ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient, scalable, and reliable data pipelines to ingest, transform, and load data from various sources into a unified data platform.
  • Design and implement scalable data solutions that can handle increasing data volumes and support high-performance data access and querying.
  • Create, enhance, and maintain technical documentation.

Benefits

  • Employees at Amazon are often offered comprehensive health benefits—including multiple medical plan options (no pre-existing condition exclusions, 100% covered in-network preventive care), dental and vision plans, a 24/7 medical advice line from day one, expert second-opinion services, and broad mental-health support with several free counseling sessions (including pediatric). Financial wellness typically includes a 401(k) with company match (up to 2%), Restricted Stock Units (equity), FSAs, an emergency savings program, product and partner discounts, and even college-savings and home-purchase programs. Overall, the package is designed to support employees and their families’ health, finances, and day-to-day life.
