Job description

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is looking for a Data Center Structural Engineer to join its design team in Seattle, Washington. The role involves designing resilient and cost-effective data center facilities while ensuring world-class uptime for customers. As part of a creative team, the engineer will provide technical guidance, review milestone drawings, and solve large-scale implementation issues. This position emphasizes security, safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness in meeting AWS's growing demand.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering
  • 7+ years experience in structural design for industrial or commercial projects
  • 5+ years of experience with design of Data Center, Mission Critical, Hospital, Schools, Commercial or Residential Tower facilities
  • Proficiency in building codes, regulations, and standards including IBC and ASCE
  • Planning on obtaining Professional Engineering License in next 12 months
  • Master's degree in Structural Engineering
  • Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite
  • Detailed understanding of tilt-up and precast concrete structures, structural steel systems, seismic design, wind loading, snow loading, and forensic analysis of building design and construction defects

Responsibilities

  • Design prototypical data center facilities and provide technical guidance to team members
  • Review milestone drawings by consultants and solve large scale implementation issues
  • Manage and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously
  • Research new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities
  • Design and calculate auxiliary framing systems used to support cable tray, conduit, ductwork, etc.
  • Design and review non-structural components and non-building structures
  • Travel internationally as required
